Wow, I really meant to blog more as I prepared for this trip -- what happened to these two weeks? Bottom line -- I have a trip binder...and it makes me happy! It's full of MapQuest printouts, hotel web page printouts, addresses and phone numbers for the people whose floors we'll be crashing on in Seattle and Portland, and miscellaneous fun stuff we can do along the way. We have a basic plan for where we'll be when, and a place to stay in each of those places -- so we're set!
Tomorrow (tomorrow!) we head north to Hardin, Montana -- just south of Billings -- to spend the night. Monday we travel north of Great Falls to Conrad, Montana, where our good friend Kimberly has taken a job teaching in a Hudderite colony (kind of like Amish or Mennonite). I'm REALLY excited to see the colony, her classroom, the kids she'll be teaching, and the land surrounding it. I can't believe we leave tomorrow!
Here's our basic itinerary for the next two weeks:
Sunday, 7/8: Travel north to Hardin, MT
Monday, 7/9: Up to Conrad, MT -- visit the Hudderite colony where Kimberly will be teaching.
Tuesday, 7/10: West to Grand Coulee Dam, WA
Wednesday, 7/11: Push on to Seattle.
Thursday 7/12 through Saturday, 7/14: Do the tourist thing in Seattle, Port Townsend, and maybe a bit of Canada...?
Sunday, 7/15: Mars Hill Church in the morning, then down the Washington Coast to Manzanita, Oregon.
Monday, 7/16: South to the Tillamook Cheese Factory (cheesy touristy thing...literally!), then over to Portland
Tuesday 7/17-Wednesday 7/18 -- Explore Portland!
Thursday 7/19 -- Start the trek home, stopping for the night in Brigham City, UT
Friday 7/20 -- Home to Denver
I'm pretty much packed, but if I don't clean this place up a bunch before we leave tomorrow, I may never want to come home!
Blog to ya soon!
Lori
